changing lifestyle of children in cities

The lifestyle of children in cities has been drastically changed for the last three decades. Their lives are too much affluent and hectic as same as adult’s one. I’ll shed light on two aspects.

First, Children are more affluent and comfortable than ever before. Let’s take convenience store for example. It’s open for 24 hours. They can get any food, drink, magazines and so on at the moment that they want to get. As negative effect of affluent, they can be short on patience. If they can not get what they want, as is often the case, they can resolve to physical violence as the worst case. I can’t help considering that the lifestyle of children is too much affluent.

Second, cram school in the heated exam. wars. Cram school and examination wars have existed since when I was a kid. But today’s trend goes too far beyond decency. For example, I’m on the way to home at the time close to the last train around 12 o’clock. I can easily find elementary school students in the train among drunken business people including me. It seems that their conversation is related to their coming examination and the result of mock exam. I can’t help sympathize with their tough environment or high expectation from their parents. I deeply understand the idea that graduating from the prestigious high school or university lead our nation to one of the successful industrized country in the world. However, why don’t they have leeway?

In conclusion, their lives are engulfed by hustle and bustle in cities.
